The words were written on the corner of Broadway and Alameda in Denver, Colorado in about 2010. It was my first year or two away from WI and I was learning, experiencing and remembering a lot.
I was sitting on a concrete bench on the corner in the dry cold with cracked hands and lips, knuckles bleeding. Hot cup of coffee and cigarette, and there the words came. Definitely was thinking about Katie and Michelle and my buddies and Milwaukee and myself and the world.
Went to our house on Gilpin St. and found the chords and Broke People Dreaming all chimed in on this song.
